This time it’s my old firm, Cleary Gottlieb, informing all associates in good standing on its U.S. pay scale that they will be getting a little extra in their December 23, 2022 paychecks.

In accordance with our usual practice, let’s point out that Cleary brought in $1,418,818,000 for 2021, placing 29th on the Am Law 100.

— Admissions consultant Anna Ivey, a former admissions dean at the University of Chicago Law School, in comments given to Reuters on why prospective and current law students may to continue to rely on the U.S. News law school rankings, despite the fact that many elite law schools have decided to opt out of participating, in a move led by Yale Law School. This is unlikely to sway pre-law students, however, because as Ivey noted, “[a]pplicants don’t look into how the sausage gets made.”
